Iun

Iun is the common spoken and written language devised by the Iun themselves. The common language was created by a council of Pureblood Iun and forced onto the rest of the Iun, with punishment for those that didn't comply. Many Iun of all species speak and write Common Iun as their primary language while speaking a more localied language as their second.

Spoken Iun consists almost entirely of vowel sounds held for differing lengths of time. It sounds like a combination of wolves howling, whales singing, and elk bugling.

Written Iun is made using the quad-cloven hooves of the Iun. Each toe represents a different vowel sound, pulled down vertically to show how long the sound is held for. This language is written vertically, top to bottom, right to left. Typically Iun is written in the dirt, or on paper or other surfaces by dipping their hooves in paint or ink. Other species can write this language as well using a tool, special brushes, or stamps.
